Important Update on SunPower's Chapter 11 Bankruptcy and What it Means for GreenLogic Clients

We hope this message finds you well. We are reaching out to inform you about recent developments concerning SunPower, one of our key equipment suppliers. On August 5, 2024, SunPower announced that it has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy and entered into an asset purchase agreement with Complete Solaria, Inc. This agreement involves the acquisition of certain parts of SunPower’s business, but it does not cover their Installing Dealer Network, which includes GreenLogic.

How this Affects You

1. Installed Systems: Your installed solar system should continue to operate as expected. If you experience any service issues, GreenLogic remains fully committed to assisting you with our expert support.

2. Contracted but Not Installed Systems: We are still able to procure the necessary equipment for your SunPower system and proceed with your installation as planned. However, should you wish to explore alternatives, we offer high-quality options from manufacturers such as Maxeon, REC, QCells, and others. Please reach out to your energy consultant to discuss the best choice for your needs.

3. Impact on GreenLogic: GreenLogic is dedicated to providing the best solar equipment and services. While SunPower is a significant partner, we source equipment from various manufacturers to ensure you receive the highest quality products at competitive prices. Our reputation, built over 19 years, and our strong financial health ensure our ability to continue delivering excellent solar solutions to our clients.

4. Monitoring: We anticipate that SunPower’s monitoring platform will remain operational without disruption and we are confident that there will be a seamless transition to new oversight, ensuring continued access to your system’s performance data.

5. Warranties and Equipment: 

Following the spin-off of SunPower’s panel manufacturing into a separate entity called Maxeon in 2020, SunPower began offering various types of panels and equipment to its dealers, while managing all related warranties. We are actively working with Sunpower and all pertinent original equipment manufacturers to clarify and uphold warranty coverage. We expect that eventually warranty support will be maintained through these manufacturers.

As of September 20, 2024, SunPower will no longer create trouble tickets or provide direct customer support for individual homeowners’ systems through the mySunPower app, web portal, or their customer service line.

However, rest assured that your system’s monitoring access and data are still fully available.

Enphase Energy has received questions about Enphase microinverter warranty, product availability and expansion of SunPower systems. Rest assured that Enphase Energy will honor the terms of the product warranty for Enphase microinverters used in SunPower solar systems, and ensure product availability to service warranty claims as well as support expansion of systems.

Important: SunPower Solar System Warranty with Maxeon

If you own a SunPower residential solar system in the United States, the system may include solar panels made by Maxeon, an independent company. To ensure your system is covered under the Maxeon SunPower Warranty, please register your solar system by December 31, 2024. This is essential to secure your warranty benefits.
